MOTHER’S LONG DISTANT LOVE

I was truly honored when I was contacted via Facebook by a mother in need of family pictures with her sons. Nothing fancy, you might ask? Well, Wonder, the mother, is currently enrolled in the Armed Forces and was stationed overseas. She was going to be in the ‘States’ for a few weeks and pictures were a must on the list of things to do!

THE EXCITEMENT
I grew up a short distant away from her family and in fact, graduated from high school with her older brother. It had been at least 10 years since I had seen her and I was excited about the opportunity to catch up on what I missed over the years and meet her awesome children. I began to gauge the photo session from her perspective and felt that I could take this photo session to the next level. So, I asked Wonder about doing a “Photo Story”, where we could enact her arriving at the train station and recreate that moment where she first sees her two children, of whom she had been separated from for some time now.

THE EMOTIONS
Wonder is one tough mom, but I can’t image the emotions she holds from being overseas on active duty while her children are thousands of miles away. Just imagine…physically missing holidays, school, and perhaps birthdays due to the commitment to your country. For that, I applaud this solider!

THE CHALLENGE
This made my job that more important and critical. I wanted to make sure I delivered on the experience and captured the raw emotion of the moment and more importantly, produce a product that Wonder and her family would cherish for a lifetime.

I certainly hope TR Peterson & Company delivered in those areas.
