Elegant, Detailed, & Beautiful….
Those are the three words that come to mind, when I think about Randy and Virginia’s wedding day. When I first talked to Virginia about taking on their wedding in the beginning of the year, I asked her about their planning, location, color, the usual. However, I was a little alarmed when I so happened to ask about the size of their wedding party; to which she replied: “24 people“. I must admit that this caught me by surprise and I immediately began to think about all the challenges that I would face shooting a wedding party of this size. Was I ready for such a challenge?
The Wedding Day: When I first arrived on the scene and entered the sanctuary, I saw something that took me back sevens years and counting; that’s when my wife and I hitched up. I saw an altar that resembled the one that we used for our wedding. Unfortunately, because we had planned an outdoor wedding and it rained, we never got a chance to use that altar (tear). Ok, back to Randy and Virginia! The church was beautifully decorated in a couple of tones of blue and white. Ribbons and trimmings fell off the sides of nearly every pew and flowers draped the beautiful altar that would soon serve as my backdrop. Everything was well color-coordinated to perfection; just well pleasing and beautiful!
As the day began to unveil, I began to prep myself to take on “the 24.” I began to get acquainted with the whereabouts of the bride, the groom, and the rooms where the rest of the wedding party would be getting dressed. Every click of the shutter, on the camera, made me feel even the more at ease. Before long, we were coming to the end of the reception before I realized that I had taken on the 24, without any stress at all. This party was perhaps one of the most prompt, on time, and easy to work with group of people that I’ve met, especially considering how deep they were rolling. I must admit also, that everyone, especially Virginia’s dad, Mr. Mark Dickens, was more than happy to answer my many questions and give directions around the facilities.
The Couple: Randy and Virginia were just two love birds awaiting this day, and granted me and my equipment the front pews all to ourselves (thanks). I even made a suggestion during their rehearsal that would give me the perfect angle for their pictures and they were more than happy to listen. On their wedding day, these love birds presented personal vows to each other, which heightened the emotions that filled the sanctuary to another level. I could sense the genuine love they shared with every word they spoke. This made my obligation to the couple all worth while.
So, without further ado, I present to you the wedding day of Mr. and Mrs. Randy and Virginia Ellis….
